Welcome to the REALLY REALLY un-official side of CrunchAtlas

Welcome to Beyond the Crunch. This is the founding CEO’s little corner of CrunchAtlas. This is where I’ll dive into everything from my mad scientist ideas of how I want to tackle cyber threats, to navigating the chaos of building a tech business (without an MBA, because a buddy once told me I didn’t need one).

You can also expect the occasional sophisticated and highly refined dad joke or rant about general life curiosities. For example, I may do a deep dive on understanding the mental state of drivers who insist on cruising in the left lane on I-95 at 45 mph during my afternoon commute home. (Seriously, why?) Keep reading. I promise these gems will make an appearance at some point.

So, who am I? A startup founder and, most recently, the CEO of the newly formed CrunchAtlas Inc. What’s CrunchAtlas, you ask? Google it, I think our SEO should be working well by now. Or better yet, hit up Sean at sean@crunchatlas.com. He’ll happily give you the full rundown, he says you absolutely will never defeat his spam filters, or ever successfully spear phish him. You’re welcome, Sean.

I’m also a husband, dad, neighbor, son, friend, grumpy veteran, tech nerd, and, admittedly, a bit of an aggressive driver. Somewhere in that mix there are interesting stories I can write about I'm sure.

I’m starting this space because, honestly, there’s a lot going on in my life. You might as well get a chance to laugh and cry with me. Or maybe just laugh AT me. Either way I truly hope you all learn something from the good, the bad, and the ugly that I could generate in this blog. At this point in my life, I can honestly say it’s not just about the tech, the hustle, or the ride itself anymore. It’s about trying to make an impact and leaving something behind that matters.

Sure, maybe the legacy is this startup, very plausible. CrunchAtlas will be awesome. Or maybe I’ve already left a great legacy through my family or my military service, and I really could just sit back, relax, quit while I'm ahead so to speak. But who’s to say the answer can’t also be me jotting down the daily chaos here for you to read, roast, and stalk? Now that’s a legacy: putting my finest Murphy’s moments on the Internet for all to see. Legacy secured.

As you can already tell, this blog isn’t some polished, corporate-speak nonsense. My colleagues at CrunchAtlas will probably roll their eyes at this, but don’t worry, they don’t get to edit any of it. This is just me, talking about what matters: life, work, lessons I’ve learned (the hard way, more often than not), and the stuff that keeps me grounded. You’ll see posts about everything from trying to solve big problems in cybersecurity to the rollercoaster of starting a company from scratch. And yeah, there will probably be some stories about my dog, Clementine, and maybe a few about fast cars.

You can definitely expect posts about:

  • Cybersecurity and National Security: Tackling advanced threats, sharing insights from CrunchAtlas, and how collaboration in consuming threat intelligence makes all the difference.
  • Tech and Innovation: AI, robotics, and why I think tech can (and should) empower people.
  • Life Outside the Crunch: Stories from my life, my journey as a parent, and the lessons I’m learning while trying to build something meaningful from the ground up.

This blog is all about keeping it real. It’s my space to connect with anyone curious about cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, or just life in general. I’m here to share stories, lessons, and maybe even spark a conversation or two.

There’s more to come, so stick around. Hit subscribe, drop a comment, or just check back whenever you’ve got a minute. I appreciate you all being here for the ride. I might have to tone it down or actually proofread when Series A rolls around for Crunch and there’s a bigger board to impress. But for now? I’m the boss, and you get the unfiltered version.

Thanks for stopping by,
Ben
